ASA's Digital Strategy Branch is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with both traditional and model-based systems engineering experience to help the program embrace contemporary systems engineering processes, technologies, and tools. Systems engineering will feature prominently in the adoption of digital capabilities across Australia's nuclear-powered submarine program. Your role will be pivotal in driving the design, development, testing, delivery, maintenance, and evolution of ASA's digital systems required to support the build and sustainment of Australia's nuclear-powered submarine fleet.
Submarines are technically complex and leverage decades of knowledge and iterative design. You will help lead the adoption and evolution of best-practice systems engineering techniques, noting best practice for managing this information evolves over time. Leveraging successful approaches identified from the broader systems engineering ecosystem, you will design and implement a pathway to support and transition traditional systems engineering content to a contemporary model-based systems engineering approach.
The duties of a Senior Systems Engineer within the Digital Strategy Branch may include:
Providing a leading role in the design and implementation of a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach to managing the through-life technical definition of Australia's nuclear-powered submarine fleet.Integrating MBSE within the Product Lifecycle Management system enabling the seamless use of CAD, simulation packages, configuration management, and requirements management capabilities within an MBSE context.Evaluating new technologies and techniques that achieve efficiencies and maintain systems engineering best-practice within ASA, potentially including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality.Collaborating and communicating effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including trilateral partners in the US and UK.Translating and shaping technical requirements, specifications, and analysis into a systems-based approach.Delivering solutions to complex problems using general and specific domain engineering knowledge.Contributing to the development of systems engineering training programs for adjacent technical teams.Mentoring and supporting early-career engineers and technical staff.About our Team

Mandatory Qualifications
This engineering position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer. This engineering position may require the individual to be able to meet the requirements of Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia), Registered Professional Engineer (Professionals Australia) or Fellow/Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects or demonstrated the ability to obtain such status within 12 months.
