We work with investors, developers, businesses, organisations, and governments to advise on the environmental, social, governance, and economic impacts of design, planning, and policy decisions, bringing a deep understanding of sustainability in the built environment and our communities.The Urbis Sustainability, Net Zero and Decarbonisation team operates at the intersection of energy, economics, design, planning, policy and commerce to assist clients through sustainability and net zero solutions to optimise, increase and retain the value of their developments, investments, acquisitions, existing assets, operations, and policies towards a net zero and sustainable future.We provide strategic and technical advice on diverse engagements – ranging from net zero pathways, decarbonisation strategies, portfolio management, asset decarbonisation, sustainability strategies, and energy transition advisory.The Opportunity:We are continuing to grow our Sustainability team at Urbis, buoyed by our successful engagements including advising community housing associations on their decarbonisation pathways, advising developers on their Sustainability and ESG precinct strategies, assisting governments to shape and deliver the 2032 Olympic climate positive legacy strategy, and partnering with a major corporate to navigate Australia's energy transition.This is an opportunity to join the Sustainability, Net Zero and Decarbonisation team as we continue on our trajectory to become one of the leading sustainability advisory firms in Australia.We are seeking a Sustainability Consultant/Advisor to join our Sustainability, Net Zero and Decarbonisation team based in our Melbourne office to support the Melbourne and National Sustainability team.We are seeking motivated and knowledgeable people to play an integral assisting and supporting our clients tackle the complex sustainability and decarbonisation challenges facing cities and regions across Australia and abroad.You will be involved in meaningful and impactful project work across global, national, industry, state, precinct, portfolio and building levels– assisting in the energy transition of Australia towards a decarbonised and net zero future. The successful candidate will be provided with opportunities to develop and learn across multiple disciplines and sectors.You will:Work with our private and public sector clients to assist them in developing net zero pathways and sustainability focussed strategies by integrating impactful decarbonisation initiatives into their climate, sustainability and ESG agendas - to optimise, increase and retain value of their developments, investments, acquisitions, assets, policies and operations.Support the Sustainability, Net Zero and Decarbonisation team across a diverse range of areas including Portfolios, Precincts, Pathways, Policies and PlanningDeliver exciting and complex technical and strategic advisory projects for organisations, developers, investors, government, on strategic issues ranging from precincts and city strategies, sustainability ecosystems, emerging energy technologies, future mobility and manufacturing, sustainable economic development and business and investment strategies.Collaborate with Urbis' social value, economics, property, planning, urban design, transport and mobility, landscape architecture and future state teams providing sustainability, net zero and decarbonisation advisory.Apply your knowledge and expertise to inform analysis, design, and delivery of client sustainable solutions.Support day-to-day execution of client engagements and deliverables, including client meetings, team and client management.Draw on and integrate Urbis' broader technical capabilities from our other national and international offices.Contribute valuable sustainability and decarbonisation insights to improve project outcomes.Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.Prepare thought net zero and sustainability leadership that is insightful, innovative, and engaging.Contribute to developing and fostering client relationships.Demonstrate commercial discipline and consistency through compliance with company policy and process and performance expectations.Enjoy working towards a more sustainable future.About you:Candidates are welcome from diverse sustainability backgrounds with sustainability, net zero, decarbonisation, energy, ESG, built environment, energy economics, infrastructure, or environmental science qualifications and experience.Tertiary qualifications in Sustainability, Energy or Environmental Science related programs.5+ years in Sustainability, Net Zero or Decarbonisation related technical or strategic consultancy or advisory.An understanding about the sustainability, energy and decarbonisation issues facing the globe, nation, regions, cities, organisations, industries, government, private sector, and communities.A future thinking mindset of the possibilities and opportunities that the energy transition and a sustainable future will bring.A general understanding of the energy transition risks and opportunities within the built environment, renewable energy, decarbonised manufacturing, net zero precincts, mobility, economy, and governmental climate objectives and policies.Technical assessments, emissions modelling, and future scenario modelling capabilities of emissions and decarbonisation interventions and energy use would be beneficial.Comprehensive ability to prepare and present data and information in written, visual and verbal formats with a degree of autonomy in MS Office suite and PowerPoint.Ability to articulate rationale of analysis and concluding insights through quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.Highly curious with a growth mindset and proactive approach to problem solving.Ability to review and synthesise background information, undertake research, and develop insights to inform strategic advice.Diligent and efficient with an understanding of the importance of professionalism, prioritisation, and work-life balance.Why Urbis?Urbis is committed to fostering an inclusive, flexible, and diverse work environment.We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and those returning to work after a career break.By joining us you will receive many benefits including:Salary continuance insurance, a generous parental leave policy, health & wellbeing programs and much more.Active mentorship by the best in the business, development of career goals and support in achieving them.Investment in ongoing training with all employees provided with an annual training budget.Monthly morning teas and regular social events to celebrate professional and personal wins.Across all our sectors, you will play a part in shaping cities and communities.
