These lands and waters cover approximately 10,888 square kilometers of Western Australia's Pilbara region between Onslow and Tom Price.
The PKKPAC delivers a range of programs and services to support the social and economic well-being of PKKP Members.The Country, Culture and Partnerships Division is separated into three main areas, being (1) Heritage, Culture and Language Unit, (2) Environment and Partnerships Unit, and (3) Native Title and Agreements Unit.Reporting to the Manager, Co-Management, the Stakeholder Engagement Specialist is part of the Environment and Partnerships Unit.
This Unit is separated into two teams:(1) Co-Management;The Co-Management Team is responsible to oversee the implementation of Co-Management agreements with stakeholders operating within the PKKP Native Title Determination.A key function of the team is to manage the Land and Heritage Committees meetings and Co-management Committees meetings, ensuring the development of stronger relationships with all the external stakeholders.CORE VALUESCultureRespectCompassionTransparencyPosition OverviewThe Stakeholder Engagement Specialist will work closely with the Co-Management Manager and the Traditional Owners of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura Community, to develop and maintain relationships between the PKKP AC and the external stakeholders it deals with regarding Native Title and Heritage matters.
These relationships include mining and exploration companies, and pastoral leaseholders.
The primary objective of the Stakeholder Engagement Specialist is to meet and communicate regularly with stakeholders as well as facilitate committee meetings, including PKKP AC Land and Heritage Committees, and stakeholder sub-committees.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Support the establishment and maintaining effective relationships with all internal and external relevant stakeholders.Support the implementation of Co-management Committee meetings, Land and Heritage Committees meetings and follow-ups on action items.Attend informal and formal consultations with stakeholders on a regular basis including onsite meetings.Accurate minute taking at all meetings relevant to the Stakeholder Engagement Specialist position.Process and interpret content discussed at meetings then recording and providing regular reports to management.Contribute to organisational learning, maintain an updated relevant database and tracking systems, Identify and implement best practices in stakeholder engagement to enhance trust and collaboration.Ensure cultural safety whenever engaging in fieldwork and interactions with Traditional Owners.Understanding of importance of protection of PKKP cultural heritage, awareness of PKKP AC and Stakeholder heritage regulations, requirements, and schedules.Work collaboratively with PKKP AC units to achieve strategic goals.Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring timely responses and proactive communication across the organisation, team, and the community.Ongoing communication to ensure that the stakeholder and PKKP AC work together to minimise the impacts of the stakeholder's business on the environment and Aboriginal cultural heritage.Work in collaboration with other Co-Management Team member, Managers, and Directors to ensure all opportunities that reflect PKKP Annual priority areas, strategic goals and community needs are realised.Adhere to all PKKP policies and processes and adhere to all the relevant policies and procedures set by relevant proponents while on Mine Sites.Remain willing to take on new program related projects to support PKKP AC priorities, as identified from time to time, to appropriately support community outcomes.Participate in all training programs as required.Any other tasks relevant to your role as directed by management.KEY PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:Have at least two years' experience working with Traditional Owners.Experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, or a similar role (preferred).While there are no mandatory formal qualifications required for this role, tertiary qualification in environmental science, Indigenous studies, social science, mining, or a related discipline would be highly regarded.Knowledge or willingness to learn about mining industry and processes.Knowledge or willingness to learn about Aboriginal Heritage legislations and protocols.Good administrative and computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite.Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds, to establish and strengthen relationships.You will be required to undertake regular travel, including to remote locations.The PKKPAC is committed to delivering the best possible results and services to the Pinikura and Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
