After some recent business changes, Points Bet Australia is about to head into an exciting stage of its journey and as we continue to grow, we're looking for a Sports Trader to join our team.
The Sports Trader role will operate as part of a 24/7 Global Trading function.
As a Sports Trader, you will play a crucial role in managing our betting offerings, ensuring accuracy, and maximizing commercial objectives while executing operational proficiencies at a high level.
The role will be heavily collaborative, focused on delivering the best possible experience for Points Bet's customers globally.
The core competencies of the role will be managing pre-match and In-Play content and pricing, with an overriding objective on ensuring a seamless experience for our customers at each touchpoint.
What you'll own: Odds compilation and price management based on researched information, market trends, and customer betting activity.
Live trading of sports, with a key focus on live trading of US major league sports.
Risk management of sports events - process bets in accordance with risk management strategy.
Respond to customer queries in a prompt and informative manner.
Profile the betting behavior of clients, to complement risk management strategies.
Become familiar with internal trading models, their inputs, and price effectiveness onto Points Bet platforms.
Analyze trading performance and deliver recommendations to management based on this.
Manual creation of betting markets through internal models and platforms.
Constant monitoring of the industry to ensure Points Bet offering is up to date and in line with client expectations.
Monitor website content and product, providing constructive recommendations to stakeholders on potential improvements.
Collaborate with trading colleagues, managers, and customer service teams to ensure seamless operations and address customer inquiries.
Adhere to Responsible Gambling guidelines, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
The skills we seek: Bachelor level degree in a relevant field, or applicable experience.
Knowledge of major sporting leagues is an advantage.
Industry experience or an interest in/understanding of the betting industry.
Proficient statistical knowledge of sports, particularly Australian domestic codes and North American sports.
Understanding of probabilities, approaching analysis of sporting events from the perspective of probability likelihood.
Awareness of the broader gambling market, with knowledge of the current betting landscape.
Strong mathematical skills, with the ability to calculate probabilities in short periods of time.
Competent grasp of technology, with the ability to troubleshoot software issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure, and process important decisions in a matter of seconds.
Ability to manage upwards, and a strong desire to learn.
Effective communication skills, especially conveying information with colleagues and customer-facing teams.
Willingness to work nights and weekends based on business needs around the sporting calendar.
