Enjoy making a difference and working in a highly motivated team Adult Mental Health Program team based in Dandenong Permanent ongoing part-time role with excellent benefits Working in Healthcare has never been more important or meaningful The Journey The Mental Health Intellectual Disability Initiative – Adults (MHIDI-A)/Stronger together team is part of the Casey Adult Mental Health program and is located in Thomas Street, Dandenong, Australia. We provide consultation, multidisciplinary specialist assessment and treatment to people who have been diagnosed over the age of 16 years, with developmental-intellectual disability and a co-existing diagnosed mental health condition or suspected mental health condition (dual disability), many of whom will have complex presentations and challenging behaviours. There is an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Speech Pathologist Grade 3 to join us, working part-time hours (30.4 hours per week / 0.8EFT) in a permanent ongoing role. A Day in the Life You will be required to provide expert speech pathology assessment and interventions to consumers with a dual disability. The Speech Pathologist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the improvement of communication, swallowing, behaviours, mental state and quality of life for consumers with a dual disability as well as their carers and families. This will be achieved through evidence-based assessment, interventions and the utilisation of specific therapeutic and rehabilitative methods. A key requirement of this post is the education and capacity building of health and disability care professionals. About You You are a suitably qualified Speech Pathologist with exceptional clinical knowledge and assessment skills You have experience in capacity building and have the ability to work with a range of stakeholders You will also have experience or a keen interest in the intellectual disability sector Whilst you can work autonomously you are also a strong team player and work efficiently in a team environment and are passionate about achieving outstanding outcomes for our consumers What you need Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Speech Pathology Experience working with people with a Dual disability; Mental Health and Intellectual Disability is highly desirable but not essential In Return An exciting learning opportunity A welcoming, collegial and flexible working environment A real opportunity to make a difference Monash Health is a great place to work.
