About BHP  At BHP we support our people to grow, learn, develop their skills and reach their potential.With a global portfolio of operations, we offer a diverse and inclusive environment with extraordinary career opportunities.Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success.Come and be a part of this success.About the Role We are currently seeking applications for a Safety Specialist to join the WAIO HSE Functions Team in a permanent position to provide Business Partnering support to the Geoscience Team.Reporting to the WAIO HSE Functions Superintendent, through execution of core safety processes, you will support the delivery of safety outcomes across a dynamic and high performing operation.The successful candidate will be proactive and engaging, with a focus on partnering with operational leaders and creating healthy tension to drive continuous improvement in safety outcomes and best practice.In this role you will be responsible for:   Provide support to the Geoscience Team in the delivery of Safety improvement initiatives, aligned to the Integrated Operations Plan;Driving continuous improvement and best practice in safety performance through ongoing engagement with site leaders.In-Field verification of safety systems with operational leaders while coaching leaders on quality and demonstrating expected standards.Participating in, and facilitating HSE investigations and providing process guidance, coaching and quality review.Reviewing site and industry HSE events and encouraging a strong culture of learning and embedment of safety improvements.Facilitate in evaluation of critical risk assessments and providing quality reviews.Supporting accurate and transparent HSE data reporting and elements of the HSE governance program.Providing Investigation Training, Task Based Risk Management Training, Formal Risk Assessment Training and Field Leadership Quality training sessions.Support the sites Health and Safety Representative ProcessAbout You You will be a self-motivated professional with a solid record of accomplishment of achieving results through influence, coaching and mentoring.You will work hard, have fun, and support the team to achieve our collective goals.You will also have:  A proven passion for safety and a culture of care; At least 5 years' HSE experience.Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Health and Safety or related field; Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to influence at multiple levels in safety; Coaching and mentoring skills with a genuine desire to help people, achieve solid outcomes and support continuous improvement; Ability to self-motivate, manage priorities and consume data to effectivity deliver safety support.Strong attention to detail to support safety accountability for functional, project and operational teams.Experience within mining will be highly regarded.Location and Roster  Permanent position -
