Software Development Engineer IIIExpedia Flights team is dedicated to building experiences that help travelers like you go places and makes our world more connected. Our Flights Shopping Platform is one of the largest in the world and serves over 150 million queries a day powering some of the strongest industry brands like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity and Wotif.
The specific team is Best Fare search that is high-performance distributed data and computational platform for Flights Search. As a senior engineer on the team, you will define algorithms to advance search experience for new initiatives. You will also utilize machine-learning infrastructure to improve customer relevance for existing and new product offerings.
What You'll Do:Define and develop technical functionalities for evolving flight search services for Expedia Group.Design for high-performance, highly scalable, distributed cloud backend applications.Produce production quality code including operational aspects such as performance tuning, monitoring, and fault-tolerance.Interpret, analyse and work with large amounts of data to identify issues and patterns.Contribute to advancing the team's design methodology and quality programming practices.Take part in production issues triage and resolution.Who You Are:At least 5+ years of proven industry experience during which you've demonstrated outstanding coding skills in C++.Experience working with Linux.You have built scalable, highly performant, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.Experience working with cloud technologies for compute, data, and queues (e.g. EC2, SQS, ECS, Lambda, Load balancers, etc.).Experience in Java Technologies is a huge plus.SQL, Athena (s3 datalake) querying knowledge is a huge plus.Experience in dealing with production issues and using retrospectives to resolve customer problems.Knowledge of airline or global distribution system (GDS) is a plus.A teammate with a growth mindset that keeps setting a higher standard for themselves and for the team.Accommodation requestsIf you need assistance with any part of the application or recruiting process due to a disability, or other physical or mental health conditions, please reach out to our Recruiting Accommodations Team through the Accommodation Request.
