Join the Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science team, Queensland's oldest scientific institution, and make a difference by growing our understanding of Queensland's unique biodiversity.
As Senior Scientist, you will pioneer the genomics research capability of the Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science team, developing new decision support and biodiversity conservation capabilities for the Queensland Government. In this role you'll develop, lead, conduct and manage strategic conservation genomics projects focussed on threatened and other priority species, as well as provide specialist scientific and technical advice to a wide range of stakeholders. You'll do this as part of an expert multidisciplinary scientific team of botanists, mycologists, ecologists and collection management specialists who value integrity, respect, diversity and collaboration.
As Senior Scientist, you will co-ordinate and undertake approved research projects in conservation and invasive plant genomics on priority Queensland flora. You'll provide technical guidance, expertise, support, and advice to taxonomic experts to co-design and deliver collaborative population and species level projects, including scientific papers and reports. You will also build relationships with key stakeholders in areas of genomics, bioinformatics, ecology, and taxonomic research.
