Join us at the Australian Museum and help us achieve our Mission to ignite wonder, inspire debate and drive change About the Project: The Collection Enhancement Project (CEP) is an important project to register and digitise the biological, geological, and cultural collections of the Australian Museum (AM). The AM's Cultural Collection Enhancement Project (CCEP) is a significant component of the museum-wide CEP and is a focused package of specialised programs across six collections: (1) Pasifika Cultural Collection (2) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Collection; (3) Aboriginal Archaeology Collections; (4) World Cultures Collection; (5) Archives; and (6) Rare Books Library.
About the Role: The Senior Project Coordinator supports the delivery of the Cultural Collections Enhancement Project (CCEP) by coordinating the day-to-day operations of the CCEP team across multiple AM sites to create high quality records of the Museum's six cultural collections. The Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for contributing to high standard museum operational and project standards and requirements for the AM's Cultural Collections in accordance with First Nations-led Museum practices, including the implementation of Indigenous Cultural & Intellectual Property (ICIP) principles and cultural protocols.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise a range of activities undertaken by direct reports (Cultural Collections Enhancement Project and Digitisation Officers).Prepare cultural collection objects for documentation enhancement; community consultation; and digitisation.Ensure quality checking of digital image files and metadata.Employment Status: Fixed term for up to 4 yearsFull time 35 hours per weekAbout You: We are seeking an experienced Museum Project Coordinator to work within the Cultural Collection Enhancement programs on an extraordinary digitisation project!
Knowledge & Experience: Demonstrated understanding and experience in collection information management and contemporary digital collection management practices.Experience in team leadership, project management, and reporting.A high level of organisational skills and understanding of financial, technological, procurement, contract, and project management requirements.Experience and knowledge of museum practices regarding collection storage, documentation, research, and conservation considerations.Application of culturally appropriate collection practices and proven record in community consultation, especially with First Nations communities.Holds a current full NSW Driver License and is prepared to travel between the AM's various sites.Tertiary level qualifications or demonstrable equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline.About The Australian Museum: The Australian Museum is a leading voice for the richness of life, the Earth and culture in Australia and the Pacific.
