The Role Reporting into the Head of Corporate Relations and Communications, the Senior Manager, Media Relations and Corporate Communications will play a key role in implementing the enterprise strategy for corporate relations through media and other external communications channels to enhance the reputation and influence of MLC Life Insurance, including key external stakeholders such as customers, partners, the media and the general public.
The role will support the Head of Corporate Relations and Communications (HoCRC) and senior leaders to ensure the organisation has a cohesive and consistent external corporate voice aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
As the central media contact, you will play a multi-faceted role in narrative development, proactive and reactive national and trade media engagement and provide ongoing support to our Executive and Leadership team.
You will be responsible for crafting proactive communication plans, messaging and content, and supporting engagement and advocacy with the life insurance industry, professional or industry associations and government agencies.
This includes managing and/or responding to a wide variety of situations such as media inquiries, government and stakeholder engagement, product launches and crisis events.
The role can be based either in our North Sydney office or our Docklands office in Melbourne.
About you A seasoned media and/or communications professional, you possess a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar capacity, with relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, media or politics.
You have a proven track record of success in managing communications campaigns, both proactively and reactively under time pressure and immense scrutiny, with the ability to pivot where necessary.
You bring to the role existing connections with relevant media, publishing and/or government agencies, which will allow you to navigate and leverage on these relationships to enhance MLC Life Insurance's external reputation, positioning and outlook in the media.
Lastly, you possess outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal) that will enable you to create briefing notes, presentations, media materials, speeches and digital content.
