Primary objective Provide authoritative tenure advice, as well as services, on land and / or significant land developments potentially affected by the rights and interests of Aboriginal people. Services include the preparation of reports and plans, as well as ensuring the integrity of relevant textual and geospatial databases or systems. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Undertake complex research on and evaluation of current and historical land tenure. 2. Provide specialist advice and services on complex, current and historical land tenure issues, as well as associated policies and practices. 3. Preparation of land tenure reports, maps, plans and associated geospatial data to assist with decision-making in either legal hearings or proceedings, as well as major projects. 4. Maintain the integrity and ongoing improvement of comprehensive textual and geospatial databases or systems for land tenure reports, records, geospatial information and plans. 5. Actively participate in the Land Tenure History team to achieve business objectives 6. Maintain collaborative partnerships with clients and stakeholders to ensure service delivery is of a high quality and meets their needs and expectations. Selection criteria Essential 1. Demonstrated ability to provide accurate advice and quality services on land tenure issues. 2. Proven ability to undertake research activities, critically analyse, prepare reports / maps / plans, and manage administrative information involving land tenure and / or survey data. 3. Experience with maintaining textual and geospatial data related to current, historical, and investigative datasets in geospatial applications, systems or databases. 4. Established project and time management skills; includes the ability to plan, implement and report on a diverse range of activities in an environment requiring multi-tasking and adherence to deadlines. 5. Developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures; various professional or administrative backgrounds; and as a team member. 6. Knowledge of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act, Native Title Act, Land Acquisition Act, Pastoral Land Act, Crown Lands Act and their impact on land tenure and administration. Desirable 1. A qualification in surveying, geographical information management or systems, spatial sciences or land related discipline, or relevant equivalent experience.
