The opportunity:
We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our well-established and fast-growing national Social Planning team, with the new role to be based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.
The goal of the Social Planning team is to support Urbis' corporate, government, and not-for-profit clients to design and plan for better social outcomes through their projects – for long-term social value creation.

As a Senior Consultant in the Social Planning team, you will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of the social challenges and opportunities facing cities and communities to inform social and strategic planning outcomes.
You will be able to demonstrate interest and expertise in the following capability areas:
Social impact assessments (SIA) Social baseline analysis Safety and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Social infrastructure and community needs assessments Social sustainability strategies and client advisory You will:
Project manage a range of social planning projects for diverse clients and across diverse markets Conduct primary and secondary research comprising qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis of ABS and other publicly available data, literature and evidence reviews, social and public policy analysis, and community engagement.
Monitor and review best practice trends across a range of social planning and social value issues e.g., social and affordable housing.
Deliver high-quality social planning projects across a range of land use types including residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and renewable energy – with the support of senior team members.
Respond quickly and communicate in a clear, concise and transparent manner to internal and external clients.
Prepare written reports using accessible language and graphics to communicate complex information succinctly.
Prepare draft proposals, tenders, and submissions for projects.
Work to specification and deadlines, and within commercial parameters – as a competent project manager.
About You:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant social science discipline (e.g., sociology, human geography, anthropology, social planning).
A minimum of 4 years' experience and evidenced competence in the application of social science research methods and/or SIA practice.
A minimum of 4 years' experience in social planning and/or social sustainability is desirable, ideally gained in a consultancy or local council environment.
