10th September, 2024 About the team Our Government Law practice works with Commonwealth agencies of all types and sizes across a variety of sectors.
We are expanding and currently looking for someone who can work across the full spectrum government commercial matters, including: Commonwealth Procurement and probity work The Commonwealth Contracting Suite Technology and ICT contracts Intellectual property and Crown copyright The Commonwealth Grant Guidelines and funding agreements MoUs and intergovernmental agreements PGPA Act governance and compliance.
About the role Our Canberra office is seeking a government commercial lawyer with 3-8 years of PAE at Associate or Senior Associate level depending on experience.
You will have the opportunity to undertake varied and interesting matters while working with seasoned partners in a growing and supportive team.
Working closely with Partner Sarah Byrne on a broad mix of matters, your key focus will be on preparing and advising on agreements, contract management and procurements for our Commonwealth government clients.
You will be well-supported, and we are also keen to offer the right candidate the opportunity to grow their own practice.
About you Our ideal candidate will have at least three years of post-admission experience and a solid understanding of the financial framework applicable to the Commonwealth government.
A background in government in-house practice is welcome but not essential.
You will have excellent attention to detail, sound client management skills and the capacity to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
You will also possess the following: High level verbal and written communication including excellent drafting skills; Critical and analytical thinking and sound problem-solving ability; A strong desire to work as a member of a team whilst meeting client needs; Strategic sense and an understanding of the workings and priorities of government; and An ethical and commercial, client-centric approach.
