Your New Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Risk & Controls, this role will partner with business units within the Investment Operations and Enterprise Operations Departments to enable the operation and management of their risk profile in line with the Fund's Risk Management Framework.
You will represent the Operational Risk and Controls team on Projects where process changes may impact business units and be responsible for ensuring specific risk areas are appropriately reviewed, managed, monitored and integrated with the overall delivery of the risk framework and recorded within the GRC system. This will include incident reporting, control identification, a control self-assessment program, monitoring of findings and actions and Obligation assessment.
Your key duties include:
Conduct root cause analysis of incidents to identify control weaknesses and determine areas where improvements are necessary. Perform testing assigned by the control review program to evaluate the effectiveness of control design and follow up on recommendations for process and/or control improvements. Manage and communicate a calendar of risk and compliance events that is relevant for the business unit. Demonstrates clear, comprehensive communication of key operational risk matters to relevant parties and Management. Interpret and adapt fund wide risk policies ready for implementation. Develop risk reporting and dashboards for senior management, advisory groups, group risk and Board committees. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during their audit testing and ensure that audit findings are properly addressed and implemented by each business unit. What You'll Need:
7+ years' experience in Internal, External Audit, Operational Risk ideally within a large institutional investment operations organisation. A solid understanding of risk management, investment and finance related processes from within major financial institutions, custodians, superannuation funds or an insurance office. Strong analytical skills, organizational skills and a high attention to detail. Strong problem-solving skills. Strong written and oral communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas, perspectives and issues to senior management. Strong engagement skills that reflect a professional, collegiate and engaging approach to risk management. Self-starter and comfortable working in a small team and a rapidly changing environment. Diligent work ethic and commitment to achieve success. Outstanding integrity and the preparedness to raise awareness to issues or incidents when things don't seem right. Exposure to or experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) and/or Financial Management systems. Life at AustralianSuper
