Who we are
The People and Policy Branch are the front line of human resources for the department. We deliver timely and accurate responses to various client groups and support our people across the country with a strong focus on customer service and building trusting relationships with employees and business areas. We offer general and specialist HR advice and case management services for issues related to workplace relations, performance, probation, attendance, behaviour and workplace rehabilitation. The branch also includes a dedicated team that support our Senior Executive Service (SES) cohort and overseas deployments.

The SES Unit manages all SES recruitment activities including:

• onboarding and internal movements
• SES annual performance processes and talent management initiatives across the SES cohort
• individual determinations applicable to the SES cohort
• providing advice on the application of terms and conditions for the department's overseas counsellor network.

The Job
As the Senior Advisor you will be responsible for all recruitment and reporting activities involving SES employees. The duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

• coordinating all SES recruitment activities (both internal and external) and liaising with senior management during all stages of the recruitment cycle
• undertaking a range of reporting activities in relation to SES employees, including SES cap reporting
• providing a single point of coordination for the onboarding and offboarding SES employees
• responding to a broad range of queries regarding SES recruitment, including the development and preparation of section 24(1) determinations
• supporting the administration of the SES performance process, including HR Information System administration and reporting
• researching, analysing and interpreting information to inform recommendations and decisions.

Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill one ongoing vacancy in the section and that the role may be able to be performed from any of the locations listed above. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
