Job DescriptionWe are currently recruiting for a Scientific Officer to assist the University in ensuring the delivery of high-quality practical laboratory teaching activities across Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy within the School of Health Sciences & Social Work and the Health Group collectively.This position will be responsible for the preparation, set-up and pack down of material and equipment for practical classes, ordering equipment and consumables, maintaining inventories, compliance with Health and Safety protocols and will contribute to the maintenance and operation of instrumentation, laboratories and supporting facilities.The Scientific Officer is a fast-paced role which offers a high degree of variation in daily tasks and responsibilities. We're looking for a proactive individual with the ability to conduct self-directed learning and development practices that will contribute to a successful student practical experience. Under the supervision of the Team Leader, Simulation and Practical Experience, you will work closely with the Simulation Officers and Technical Officers to become part of a dynamic team. This is a collaborative Professional (non-Academic) position where you will engage with academic colleagues and other professional staff as well as students.What we offer This is a continuing, full-time position and is primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan Campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW5 range $76, - $85, per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $89, - $, per annum.QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive attitude to assist in classroom learning. You will also have, but not limited to:Completed a relevant Health based degree with subsequent experience in successfully providing technical support to health sciences or similar Allied Health working environment.Experience in supporting learning and teaching practical activities in Physiotherapy or another Health related discipline in a higher education environment would be highly regarded.Developed critical thinking skills, highly organised with strong attention to detail.Strong Health and Safety compliance acumen within specialised teaching environments. Excellent communication and a collaborative attitude with a desire to work in a strong team culture.Experience using Microsoft , including Teams & SharePoint platforms.Ability to handle direction and work autonomously, readily adaptable to changing work requirements and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
