Business Enabling Services Group / ICT Division / Government Services BranchABOUT THE BRANCHThe Government Services Branch (GSB) delivers Whole-of-Government services to Commonwealth agencies, including developing and supporting the secure telecommunications and digital collaboration needs of the Australian Government.The branch is responsible for providing and managing:
The Parliamentary Workflow Solution (PWS), delivering services to support the management of parliamentary workflow across government, including the development and support for the Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS).GovTEAMS, a comprehensive whole-of-government collaboration service for the Australian Public Service.The Intra-government Communications Network (ICON), an optical fibre network that links Commonwealth offices throughout Canberra.GovLINK, a secure inter-agency communication service that encrypts all nominated traffic, classified up to the PROTECTED level, between agency internet gateways.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYThe Resource Manager is primarily responsible for managing a group of shared resources that are allocated to individual projects/teams within the Government Services Branch based on operational requirements. The Resource Manager will manage time, equipment, resource allocation, and allocation of costings. Expertise in resource planning and management will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient delivery of projects/initiatives and achieving organisational goals. Shared resources may include subject matter experts in Communications, Service Design, and Finance.You will be required to perform the following duties:
Preparing and executing a resource capacity plan and resource schedules.Identifying and building shared resource capabilities.Allocating resources to projects/teams, including assigning the appropriate personnel to job roles within a project/initiative.Performance management.Forecasting the needs for upcoming projects/initiatives.Addressing resource demands for successful delivery of projects/initiatives.Efficient resource allocation based on competencies and skills.Managing and promoting cross-section collaboration and upskilling.Staying abreast of future resource requirements.Managing resource sourcing including permanent and non-ongoing APS employees as well as contracted resources.DETAILED VACANCY INFORMATIONFor detailed information about this role, including the job-specific capabilities, please refer to the downloadable vacancy pack, which can be accessed by clicking the hyperlink at the bottom of this page.
