About the role We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our team for our Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer project.
This project will focus on the rapid development of advanced geo-sensing technologies.
The successful candidate will work on integration of seismic and electromagnetic technologies to generate data to feed advanced inversion and machine learning methods for discovery and definition of critical minerals.
Key responsibilities: Design, develop and implement subsurface sensing technologies for critical mineral discovery and mining.
Conduct laboratory and field experiments to test and refine seismic and electromagnetic technologies under a range of conditions.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate data and improve resource discovery success and mining efficiency.
Develop and utilize modern inversion and machine learning techniques for subsurface reconstruction.
Contribute to capacity building in both human resources and infrastructure.
Contribute to teaching and supervision of students.
What we are looking for Essential Criteria A doctoral qualification in Geophysics, Computing, Engineering or Physics.
Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in relevant high quality refereed journals/outlets Understanding of the principles and application of seismic and electromagnetic subsurface sensing technologies.
Proficiency in data analysis, machine learning methods and experimentation in a (e.g., laboratory or field setting).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent communication and project management skills.
Strong desire to develop and test new technologies within industrial settings (e.g., in remote locations).
Knowledge of quantum sensing and or distributed sensing with fibre optics would be desirable.
Role requirements As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
We will also consider candidates who are eligible for a relevant work visa.
