Company Description
The Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research (GCSCR) is dedicated to increasing our understanding of current challenges facing the modern world. Through the application of innovative humanities and social science research, incorporating the knowledge of academics from a broad range of interrelated disciplines, we are at the cutting edge of humanities and social science discourse.
The Centre is seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to a new ARC DECRA Project, 'Beyond broadcasting: Community radio as a model community organisation'. The position is required to provide research assistance, project management and intellectual contribution to the project as directed by the Chief Investigator.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with research activities including literature reviews, coordinating and conducting fieldwork, and preliminary data analysis in accordance with the research protocols as stipulated.
Contributing to the dissemination of research findings, attending team meetings and workshops, and coordinating meetings between researchers and external participants as required.
Liaison and high-level communication with community broadcasters and stakeholders from across Australia.
Assist in preparing research findings for dissemination.
About You
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in a cognate or relevant field or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience.
You will also have:
Demonstrated experience in a specified area of research.
In-depth knowledge of and/or engagement with the Australian community broadcasting sector.
Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills.
Research skills particularly in qualitative interviewing.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision to meet competing deadlines, and work effectively as a team member and communicate with a range of stakeholders.
What We Can Offer
This is a fixed term (available until July 2027), 30% part-time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University's campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary for a Research Assistant, Grade 2 is in the range $82,278 - $86,526 per annum, plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $96,265 - $101,236 per annum.
