Regional Rail Readiness Leader (Fixed-Term Opportunity Up To 3.5 Years)

You're a purposeful leader who understands the why and connects everyday moments to the big picture.You have the opportunity to provide strategic leadership, planning and delivery of NSW TL's operational readiness requirements.In this role, you'll:Join NSW TrainLink (NSWTL), a multi-modal passenger transport service provider, delivering rail and coach services across NSW and connecting to Victoria, Queensland, and the ACT.
As a regional business, NSW TrainLink is located in Sydney and at several regional sites across NSW, each offering unique benefits and opportunities.The Regional Rail Fleet Project involves replacing the regional passenger fleet, including 60 XPT and over 50 XPLORER and Endeavour passenger cars.
The NSW Government has awarded a contract for this replacement and the construction of a new train maintenance facility at Dubbo named 'Mindyarra'.
We are in the process of replacing the current fleet with 29 safer, comfortable, and more accessible trains, including 117 new carriages, improving safety, comfort, accessibility, and reliability for customers traveling from Sydney to regional centres in NSW as well as Canberra, Melbourne, and Brisbane.The opportunityReporting to the Director Network Resilience & Operational Readiness, you will provide strategic leadership, planning, and delivery of NSWTL's operational readiness requirements and implementation of the new regional fleet into service.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the new fleet delivers customer value and that NSW TL is ready to operate the next generation of the regional rail fleet.Contributing to your success will be developing and enhancing cross-functional working relationships as a member of the leadership team within the Regional Rail integrated project team to lead and coordinate the delivery of program objectives aligned with operational readiness objectives related to NSWTL.
You will also guide a team of collaborative technical experts through a period of change while ensuring the team is well deployed on critical projects.This is a Transport Senior Service role TSSE1A Level offering an attractive remuneration package, initially fixed term of up to 3.5 years.
For more information on Employee Benefits at TfNSW please click here.Please click here to view the Role Description.About youAs an experienced senior operational leader, preferably in a rail environment, you will take a collaborative, big picture approach to developing project-related operational readiness plans in collaboration with the Regional Rail Project (RRP) team within Transport for NSW.You will be solutions-focused and foster a culture of accountability and performance both within your own team and when collaborating with internal and external key stakeholders, including representatives from other Transport Cluster agencies and teams.
Most importantly, you have the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, such as Transport for NSW, Unions, and Sydney Trains, to navigate through the complexities of the project and establish effective governance and project management practices to underpin decision-making between NSWTL and the Regional Rail project, minimizing risk to delivery and achieving customer outcomes in the acceptance of the new fleet.
Experience in understanding and maintaining awareness of the industrial implications of projects and initiatives while managing associated risks is essential.
