The position of the Regional Cultural Heritage Coordinator (Southern) has a whole of government function and is responsible for managing operational matters arising from the implementation of the Cultural Heritage Acts. The position is expected to participate in the preparation of training material and the delivery of training to government officers in regional centres in relation to responsibilities under the Cultural Heritage Acts. The Regional Cultural Heritage Coordinator (Southern) is also responsible for advising the Director and Manager, Cultural Heritage, on policy matters arising from the implementation of the Cultural Heritage Acts and contribute to the development of options to resolve these issues.
Your key responsibilities
Provide specialised training, expertise, advice and policy input to regional government officers, including departmental officers, the Director-General and the Minister, on all aspects of cultural heritage legislation and administration.
Manage the implementation of policy and legislation, and any issues arising from the implementation of the Cultural Heritage Acts.
Liaise with other agencies in relation to legislative policy matters pertaining to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage.
Contribute to the preparation of ministerial correspondence, briefing notes and cabinet submissions relating to the development, review and/or administration of cultural heritage legislation and related policy issues.
Provide operational advice to government and non-government stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and local government in relation to all aspects of the Cultural Heritage Acts.
Liaise with stakeholders undertaking cultural heritage studies for inclusion in the Cultural Heritage Register.
Represent the department and the Queensland Government at external forums and on inter-agency and inter-jurisdictional working parties.
Exercise delegated authority under the legislation as required.
All staff are responsible for identifying, managing and reporting risks relating to their work with the department.
