Beaumont&Beaumont has been engaged to recruit APS5 Redress Officers to join an exciting and rewarding team in a major Commonwealth Government Department in Hobart.
This role is responsible for managing aspects of the end-to-end process for applications under the National Redress Scheme. Under limited direction, you are accountable for organising your workflow and escalating risks and issues when needed.
You will have exposure to sensitive material and may have exposure to difficult issues that could require liaising with a range of internal stakeholders. Any previous experience in dealing with vulnerable people, or working in potentially traumatic environments will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities Include: Communicate effectively and sensitively with applicants, nominees, and support services of the Scheme. Self-awareness and ability to self-manage in a complex, changing environment whilst in a diverse team with a high workload in a high-risk environment. Keep accurate and comprehensive records (including report writing, case notes, and official records). Advise applicants on redress legislation, policy, procedures and payments. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in reading, writing and talking about applications and how they are processed. Skills and Experience: Ability to interpret complex information and identify key aspects to support validation, assessment, and recommendation processes. High-level research and analytical skills to make accurate conclusions based on information and evidence. Respond flexibly to change and maintain a constructive approach to problem-solving. Demonstrate judgment and common sense when solving problems and developing solutions. Attributes: Maintains a well-developed understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks. Demonstrates empathy and understanding and communicates effectively in a trauma-informed way, including through letters and reports. Demonstrates high emotional intelligence and ability to recognise and manage own emotions in a stressful environment. Is risk aware and escalates issues to manager as required. It is a client requirement that all applicants are Australian Citizens and are willing to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
