Rainstick, an innovative company specialising in Variable Electric Field (VEF) technology, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bioelectric Technician with demonstrated experience in electrical engineering and biophysics. This is an exciting opportunity to work with novel new technologies in plant and fungi growth.
Responsibilities: Develop and optimise VEF systems for various applications in agriculture and synthetic biology Conduct research on the effects of electric fields on plants, fungi, and seedlings Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement bioelectric solutions Troubleshoot and optimise electrical systems and hardware components Contribute to the continuous improvement of our VEF technology and its applications Requirements: A degree in physics and biology or demonstrable sufficient familiarity with the subject matter through experience and achievements Strong understanding of bioelectric processes and their effects on plants and fungi Demonstrated ability to design, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems and components Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills At least a hobbyist interest in growing mushrooms and seedlings Willingness to relocate to Cairns, Queensland Preferred Experience: Prior experience in the agriculture or synthetic biology industry Experience with controlled environment agriculture, such as vertical farming or container farming Familiarity with PEF (Pulsed Electric Field) technology and its applications Benefits: Competitive salary Make a significant impact on the future of agriculture and synthetic biology Relocation assistance provided for the right candidate Work with truly novel technologies at the GND level We are an equal opportunity organisation built on trust, inclusivity and advocacy.
