Casual position available. Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental planning/science, other sustainability related disciplines and/or on-ground experience in natural resources management and/or sustainability practices LGO3 ($47.61 - $51.40 per hour + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience About the Role The role investigates opportunities to integrate environmental systems, sustainable solutions and natural resources, bringing together the economic, social and ecological dimensions of sustainability and project implementation in Townsville to deal with its fundamental challenges (energy, water, waste/resource, and biodiversity), in a way that maintains or enhances the quality of life of the whole community, and involves people in ways that are meaningful to them, their lifestyles, business, and government.
The Sustainability and Environmental Section fosters a whole-of-community collaborative approach to on-ground actionable sustainability and resilience by implementing city-wide frameworks and systems (environmental management, nature conservation, energy efficiency, and demand reduction), integrating people with technology and ecology to develop 'systems for change'.
About You Our ideal applicant will have demonstrated experience in implementing environment and/or sustainability programs and a Sustainable Destination, incorporating people, First Nations/Traditional Owners, and organisations including building cultural change, behaviour change, sustainability education capacity building programs, while working in local government, government or like community-based organisations.
With a tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental planning/science, other sustainability related disciplines and/or on-ground experience in natural resources management and/or sustainability practices.
