The AFP is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly organised Project Officer to fill a current vacancy within our newly established Taskforce Implementation Team in Canberra. As a Project Officer, your role will provide essential support and work under general direction from the Team Leader, Taskforce Implementation.
The role is currently located within EBB with the occasional work undertaken at an Australian Border Force (ABF) location within Canberra.
Operation AEGIS has been established to coordinate across Commonwealth, State and Territory law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and protection of the Australian community in response to the release of the individuals from immigration detention. These individuals were released due to a ruling made in the High Court that found indefinite immigration detention was unlawful. Your work will have a tangible impact on national security, national policy, crisis management, cross jurisdiction, and multi-agency relationships (such as ABF, DoHA, State and Territory law enforcement and corrections agencies).
What will you do? To be successful in this role, you will be required to operate autonomously, predominantly focusing on delivering project management and business support. You will assist with the implementation and development of business projects, develop high-quality contributions to command and executive decision making and administration processes, and proactively manage workflows and competing priorities.
You will be required to display initiative, think strategically, and demonstrate sound judgement and decision making on a regular basis. Relationship management, workflow prioritisation, and value-added coordination are key elements of this role.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct, and the AFP Governance Instruments.
It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below:
Maintaining high-level knowledge of the relevant portfolio objectives including progress towards outcomes/outputs/projects to enable the provision of support where appropriate;Provide support in the development of new procedures and guidelines to be implemented in support of the transition to the future Taskforce arrangements and performing project work as identified through the implementation strategy;Providing administrative support to Operation AEGIS Operational, Strategy and Coordination members and AFP Executive;Proactive organisation of workflows, resource management processes and policy contributions;Handling, managing and accurately recording information appropriately in line with AFP guidelines, best practice, procedures and timeframes;Providing oral and written advice to stakeholders;Developing, monitoring and advising key stakeholders on the progress of projects.Requisite Role Requirements Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a dynamic environment and manage complex and high volumes of tasks;The ability to liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders;Sound written and oral communication skills;The ability to prioritise, analyse and triage.Essential Requirements A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.Contemporary (within last two years) experience with PROMIS.High level written, verbal and liaison communications skills.Ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure and meet short deadlines.Show initiative and work independently and within a small team.A positive learning mindset and personal drive.Desirable Requirements The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
