Fixed Term - Full Time until 1st June 2026 About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services, providing policy leadership, planning for the future of education in Victoria, and leading key cross-sector collaboration. The department also plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight, and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Victorian School Building Authority The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s. The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs, and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.
With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.
About the Division The Corporate Division provides corporate support to all VSBA teams and fulfills an important assurance and oversight role. They guide VSBA to achieve strategic objectives and ensure decision-making is transparent and accountable. The division also coordinates communication and consultation with local communities about their school building projects, develops graphic design and video content, manages social media channels, leads organisational customer service reform, distributes e-newsletters, and organises ministerial and other events for our projects.
About the Role This role sits within the Standards, Training, and Assurance (STA) unit of the Systems and Oversight Branch. The Project Officer will play an important role in:
Procurement - maintaining and enhancing the VSBA's suite of procurement documentation and templates as well as providing construction procurement advice to VSBA staff;Standards & Frameworks - support regular updates to the standards & frameworks that guide project/program delivery in the VSBA;Assurance - support monitoring risks via the independent assurance program.The role includes a high degree of stakeholder engagement with the VSBA Executive Team, Business Unit Managers, and Divisions across the Department. The successful candidate will assist in the development of effective decision support tools such as reports, analysis, and insights in the VSBA.
Key Accountabilities Identify, coordinate, and produce reporting and written communication which supports effective decision-making by VSBA Executive, the Department, and Government;Support reporting for compliance activities to VSBA governance committees;Work collaboratively across the VSBA and broader Department to manage information and processes across the portfolio, acting as a key point of contact for multiple teams and stakeholders;Contribute to continuous improvements for delivery through automation and process improvement.All VSBA staff have a shared responsibility to meet the same service standards outlined in the VSBA Customer Service Charter.
