Part Time (0.2FTE), Fixed Term for 12 months Exciting opportunity to support research in critical minerals extraction for the energy transition HEO 6 $99,455 pro-rata + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Project Officer will work closely with Professor Susan Park to bring together researchers from across the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS), the Sydney Environment Institute (SEI) and the Net Zero Initiative (NZI) around critical minerals extraction for the energy transition and other relevant project areas.
As the Project Officer, you will deliver key critical minerals initiatives and other projects in support of the University's aim for inter-disciplinary research among FASS, SEI and NZI, coordinate research activities, support researchers working on inter-institutional projects and provide support to funding scheme applications.
Reporting to Prof Park, and learning from other members of the FASS, SEI and NZI teams, your key responsibilities will be to: provide project management support and advice to contribute to the planning and delivery of key activities across FASS, SEI and NZI's critical minerals research program collaborate effectively to support the logistics and delivery of multiple projects, including developing project plans, monitoring project budgets and promptly identifying project-related risks as they emerge design, coordinate, and deliver events which serve the Universities strategic objectives around critical minerals and net zero aspirations develop and implement project governance procedures to effectively monitor project performance and mitigate risk support the development of project proposals and submissions, create and maintain productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders support the reporting of research impact and outcomes across FASS, SEI and NZI projects and schemes undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities aligned with the inter-institutional mission of the University.
About you We are seeking candidates with: project management skills, including experience engaging with multiple projects and diverse stakeholders with varied subject matter excellent organisational skills with the ability to balance competing priorities to deliver outcomes within tight timeframes strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and adjust communication styles for different stakeholders the ability to take initiative, with a commitment to excellence while seeking opportunities to develop and improve processes.
While not required, one or more of the following would also be favourable for this role: qualification or equivalent experience in climate change, environmental science, sustainability, or related field, an understanding of the critical minerals landscape in Australia and internationally, experience working in research, tertiary education, or complex organisation, and/or experience securing research funding through competitive grant schemes, philanthropic funding, commissioned research and/or CRCs.
