Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC) is the Native Title Representative Body (NTRB), delivering native title and other services across the Pilbara, Mid West, Murchison, and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia.

About the Role: YMAC's Research, Country and Culture Services (RC&CS) team provides Research, Heritage, Social Surrounds, and Land & Sea Management services to PBCs and Traditional Owners in the management of their Country and Culture.
YMAC's RC&CS is a skilled and coordinated team of archaeologists, anthropologists, environmental scientists, land and sea management specialists, ranger coordinators, managers, and administrators who contribute to the ongoing empowerment of our clients - Aboriginal communities and organisations throughout the Yamatji and Pilbara regions.
YMAC is currently seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to join the Land & Sea Management team to be based in one of our offices in Geraldton or Perth on a permanent contract.
The Project Coordinator will assist the Land & Sea Management Program Manager in providing direction and leadership for Indigenous land and sea management on the traditional lands of YMAC's clients.
This includes supervising existing ranger projects, identifying funding opportunities, and engaging with prospective clients to develop and run new projects.
About You: The ideal candidate will have qualifications and/or experience in conservation and land management, natural resources management or a relevant field, demonstrated experience and confidence with working with Aboriginal communities, and/or coordinating on-the-ground natural, cultural, or agricultural resource management projects, preferably with Indigenous organisations and/or in arid and remote regions of Australia.
Under the guidance of the Program Manager, your position responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
Provide daily leadership, coordination, and supervision of the ranger projects operated by YMAC, consistent with the contractual obligations of each project.Coordinate the design and implementation of ranger annual work plans for the protection and promotion of the natural and cultural heritage.Support and develop ranger groups in their formal and on-the-job training activities.Coordinate and manage the budgets and fee-for-service opportunities to gradually ensure full-time employment of all rangers on the various teams.Integrate traditional ecological knowledge with modern land and sea management practice, for the long-term conservation and promotion of natural and cultural values.Liaise with existing and potential clients (State agencies, local government areas, conservation organisations, pastoral leaseholders, resources companies, etc.)
in delivering services in land and sea management.Promote responsible work practices to ensure a healthy and safe work environment while on country.Provide accurate and timely project activity reports as directed by the Program Manager and as set out in project funding agreements.Provide administrative, financial, and logistical support to the various ranger projects operated by YMAC.Identify and develop funding applications.Occasionally provide advice on specific environmental matters, as directed by the Program Manager.Report to and liaise with the Native Title parties involved in the program, in particular the PBCs holding the Native Title rights and interests.What YMAC Offers: YMAC believes in providing a safe and supportive working environment, and the best way to do that is to ensure our employees are well looked after.

Selection Criteria: Qualification(s) in Conservation and Land Management or related field (NRM, environmental studies, anthropology, nature-based tourism), or relevant equivalent experience.Current manual driver's licence.Demonstrated experience and confidence in working with Aboriginal communities and/or coordinating on-ground natural, cultural, or agricultural resource management projects, preferably with Indigenous organisations and/or in arid and remote regions of Australia.Demonstrated experience in project management.Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.Ability and desire to occasionally travel away from home and work on Country for extended periods.Strong organisational skills.Experience in working independently with minimal supervision and demonstrated capacity to remain focused, positive, and organised in a challenging work environment.Demonstrated experience in finance management.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Personal drive and integrity.Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures and heritage.Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr
