About usAs a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service (SES), and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. Please note: This position will be transitioning to Queensland Police Service (QPS) as part of a Machinery of Government Change prior to 30 June 2024, with the SES due to become an entity of the QPS. As part of this transition, you will be required to undergo QPS vetting in accordance with the Police Service Administration Act 1990.Purpose of the roleSES Strategic Liaison and Assurance Unit supports the delivery of SES organisational priorities and objectives through the initiation and management of strategic engagement and corporate governance and assurance. The unit is also responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of corporate services ensuring SES state and regional capabilities are developed and maintained. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Strategic Liaison and Assurance, you will be a key member of the team responsible for supporting stakeholder engagement, strategic communications and governance and business improvement activities to deliver valuable and sustainable benefits to SES staff and volunteers.
