THE ROLE The role of Production Manager is a crucial cog in the wheel for this company to continue to be a leader in the Fit out sector. Responsibilities & Duties: Operations Planning: Plan and oversee day-to-day operations of manufacturing facilities. Ensure timely and defect-free completion of production orders. Prioritise focus on timing, quality, and cost for all departmental jobs. Communication and Reporting: Strong communication across all levels of the company - team members and management. Provide timely updates to management on production status and forecasts. Maintain clear communication on company processes, policies, and goals. Production Scheduling and Resource Management: Develop and maintain production schedules and planning sheets. Manage labour requirements and resource availability on a weekly and daily basis. Assess and allocate resources based on production workloads. Equipment Oversight and Technology Management: Oversee production equipment, software, and hardware requirements. Manage relationships with service providers and recommend technology developments. Ensure optimal use of technology and support for plant equipment. Team Leadership and Training: Lead weekly meetings with the manufacturing team to discuss upcoming works and safety issues. Provide training and instruction on occupational health and safety responsibilities. Manage the set-out team, ensuring best practices for business goals. Cost Management and Procurement: Utilise cost-effective supply methods and negotiate for volume purchase savings. Manage procurement processes, ensuring adherence to timeframes, quality, and costs. Approve team spending if over a certain amount Project Oversight and Quality Control: Attend daily progress meetings, reporting issues to senior management. Conduct department kick-off meetings for project timeframe and set-out capacity assessment. Monitor set-out quality control processes and set milestone dates for each project. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Minimum of 5 years of experience in production or operations management within the construction/building industry - (Shopfitting/Fit Out projects ideally) Proficient knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost optimisation techniques and a familiarity with management principles related to production and logistics. Hands-on approach to work with a sense of urgency when reporting to the management team and a positive attitude towards work and workload, emphasising solutions over negative issues. Proven ability to lead a workforce, develop cooperative relationships, and negotiate issue resolutions. Strong written communication skills, including report writing abilities. Proven history of focus on cost control and operational efficiency.
