Editing & Publishing (Advertising, Arts & Media) Full time Hachette Australia is seeking an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Production Manager to lead our small and successful Production team.
This role reports directly to the Product and Production Director and is responsible for overseeing the production of books in all print and digital formats for Hachette Australia, Lothian, Moa Press and Little Moa books.
This role is full-time, based in our Sydney CBD head office and is perfect for someone passionate about the Australian publishing industry, with experience in a professional publishing environment and who is looking to make an impact.

About the role Reporting to the Product and Production Director, the Production Manager is responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships with external suppliers, such as photo libraries, sound production studios, repro houses and printers.
This role works closely with our Hachette Australia and Hachette Aotearoa Publishing and Editorial teams, as well as our Sales, Rights, Export, Finance, Marketing, Product and Distribution teams, and our overseas companies.
Key Responsibilities: Managing all production processes for Hachette Australia and Hachette Aotearoa titles, across planning, management and implementation from initial P&L costings to the successful delivery of the finished product, in all formats, on schedule and within the production budget.Working on a number of print and digital books at a senior level.Ensuring the timely, accurate upload and regular maintenance of bibliographic data across all formats on IT systems.Maintaining and updating processes and systems to optimise efficiency and profitability.Championing developing areas of production, including providing recommendations to the business to grow sales and profits.Effectively managing the Production team and their workflow, with responsibility for their ongoing motivation, commitment and performance so that objectives are achieved and exceeded.Negotiating with and engaging local and overseas suppliers and ensuring that company policies are adhered to.About you This role is perfect for someone who is a strategic thinker and who is passionate about the publishing industry and has a track record of managing publishing production processes on time and within budget.
The experience required for this role includes:
At least seven years' experience in a production role in a professional publishing environment, including print and digital.Budget and scheduling implementation and control.Experience in liaising with printers, film houses and other production partners.A strong understanding of publishing processes and print and digital trends.We're looking for a Production Manager with a flexible approach and the ability to adapt to changing environments, who is calm under pressure and able to problem solve, has excellent verbal and written communication skills, and is commercially aware and financially literate.
