About the role
As the Procurement Specialist - Aboriginal Contractor Engagement, you will be responsible for implementing the Water Corporation's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) initiatives related to the awarding of contracts to suitable Aboriginal businesses.
You will identify and champion high-performing Aboriginal businesses across Western Australia, facilitating successful working relationships with Water Corporation, ensuring best practices are followed in all procurement activities as well as identifying and removing any barriers in the Corporation's current procurement processes to ensure successful working relationships.
You will be responsible for maintaining and updating the Corporation's Aboriginal Business Database with businesses that are suitable to perform works, goods, or services for the Corporation.
Additionally, you will maintain internal and external networks with Aboriginal businesses, including attendance at meetings and ongoing communication and liaison with these businesses.
Key skills and experience
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and substantial experience in procurement and contracting in a utility business or a heavy engineering and Construction environment. Extensive knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture & protocols. Considerable experience with procurement policies and procedures employed by large Corporations. Some understanding of industry and the markets used by the Corporation.
