Position Details About the role:This role will drive policy development and implementation for Victoria Police in the areas of family violence, sexual offences and child abuse.Reporting to the Manager, Strategy, Policy and Legislation Unit (SPLU) Family Violence Command, the successful applicant will be required to initiate, develop and coordinate strategic advice, policy and legislation with a whole of Command view, and to support integration of initiatives and expertise strengthening responses to family violence, sexual offences and child abuse.The successful applicant will have significant record of achievement in the Command themes particularly relating to violence against women and children and will be leading key work to improve response to family violence.This position is a senior VPS role that would be required to support and lead an array of projects for SPLU and FVC.The SPLU team is responsible for: Leading strategic projects to improve police response to family violencePolicy analysis, advice and support for Victoria Police and whole of Victorian Government reform agenda, including analysis of emerging trends and developing new strategic policy proposals.Drawing on specialist expertise across the Command to develop advice regarding cabinet submissions, legislative change proposals, internal policies, government discussion papers, input to national policy requests and other policy proposals.Supporting coronial proceedings including supporting responses to the Coroner.Managing, coordinating and supporting key Command projects, stakeholder groups and crime themes.Providing advice to the Command on policy development and implementation and supporting policy capability upliftSupporting Command engagement with external government and sector stakeholders.Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.Your duties will include: The development of complex policies, procedures and guidelines and the provision of timely policy advice to government, senior levels of the organisation and key external stakeholders.Supervising a small team to deliver on key Command projects, policy analysis and implementation and legislative reform.Undertaking high level research and analysis to support the development of policy advice including translating policy positions into operational guidance.Managing and contributing to FVC Action Plan and Work Plan accountabilities as tasked.Providing and coordinating timely advice to respond to legislative and policy submissions, and to support strategic policy and legislative change projects.Representing Family Violence Command and Victoria Police in high-level internal and external forums and engagement with key stakeholders as required.Developing, maintaining and strengthening relationships internally and externally, with key clients and stakeholders.Leading and contributing to Command projects including planning, governance and reporting as required.As the successful applicant, you will have: A people focused approach to work that balances the needs of self, others and the workplace and a personal commitment to workplace safety.A strong work ethic, self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to work autonomously and contribute to a team.Proven experience in the development of complex policies, procedures and guidelines and the ability to provide policy advice to government, senior levels of the organisation and key external stakeholders preferably in respect to family violence, sex offences and child abuse.Highly developed and flexible organisational, management and planning skills.Developed strategic thinking, project management and planning skills.Ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Ability to represent Victoria Police in high level meetings and in public settings.Requirements and relevant information: One x full-time, fixed term position available until 5 August .This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, Spencer Street, Docklands.Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.Your application must include: ResumeCompleted application form – the word document (2.Application form) for you to complete and attach to your submission, is attached to the job advertisement.Applications close midnight, 12 June .Please Note: All applications will need to be submitted through one of the following platforms;
