About the role As part of our Demand Forecasting team, the Principal Data Scientist will support the delivery of demand forecasts for key publications using a mix of forecasting methods.
You will lead significant forecasting components, demonstrate expertise in developing end-to-end ML-based model and contribute high-quality content to reports.
Additionally, you will enhance AEMO's understanding of and capabilities in forecasting issues related to demand.
What you will be doing Apply advanced modelling methods, end-to-end model deployment, and technical knowledge to design and test models for forecasting gas and electricity demand Communicate approaches, results, and key messages effectively to internal and external stakeholders Play a leading role in delivering key industry publications Develop and contribute to a common MLOps architecture Collaborate with other Forecasting teams What you will bring to the role Advanced Degree: Typically, a master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Extensive experience in forecasting, optimization, and time series analysis within the energy sector Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, PySpark, SQL Strong experience with end-to-end machine learning pipeline, including data preparation, feature engineering, model building, and deploying models into production using MLOPs best practices Demonstrate experience in working with cloud technologies including Azure and DataBricks, and visualisation tools, e.g.
