Permanent Full Time opportunity available (9 day fortnight)Plumbers and Drainage Licence (QLD) essential, Backflow Prevention Certificate desirableBT2 (BT2LAA) ($79,527 per annum + superannuation)About the RoleIrrigation Plumbers provide support to the maintenance activities of assets within Townsville City Council Parks and Open Spaces.
You will have the chance to work within the Southern Hemisphere's largest reticulation network and its automated control system.
No two days are the same.
You will be required to carry out plumbing and irrigation work that encompasses:Auditing and checking for faultsRepair of faults and damaged irrigation & plumbing componentsReplacing and upgrading of irrigation & plumbing componentsCompleting preventative maintenance activitiesUndertaking backflow installation, maintenance and testingAbout youTo be successful in this role, it is essential you have:Plumbers and Drainage Licence in accordance with the Queensland Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002.You will also require a "C" class manual driver's licence.Construction Industry (White Card) (30215 QLD) or ability to attain.First Aid/CCPR/Emergency Life Support Certificate or ability to attain.TMI certified under the MUTCD (Part 3, 2016) or ability to attain.You will have experience in plumbing activities in line with AS/NZS 3500.12:1998; procedures for system shut down and commissioning; plumbing repairs to potable water systems including water service mains, taps, external showers, and drinking fountains and experience of irrigation systems and activities – problem solving low voltage wiring, hydrometers, solenoids, valves and flow rates; Council irrigation specifications; plumbing repairs to non-potable irrigation water mains and lateral lines and an understanding of plant species watering requirements.You will have a Backflow Prevention Certificate, or ability to attain.
You will need a sound knowledge of operational procedures applicable to irrigation maintenance, particularly related to the provision of services in public parks and open spaces and desirably knowledge and/or experience of IRRInet irrigation controller systems.You will have sound problem solving skills with the ability to achieve creative, effective and efficient solutions to challenges and changes and have effective time and workload management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.How to ApplyYour application can be submitted through our website.
