EPA Victoria is seeking a dynamic Senior Permissioning Officer to lead and inspire a team dedicated to protecting our environment and communities from pollution and waste.
You'll be at the forefront of implementing EPA's Permissioning framework under the Environment Protection Act 2017. This role is perfect for someone passionate about environmental protection and eager to contribute to a positive organisational culture while ensuring the highest standards of performance and integrity.
In this role you will: Manage, assess and recommend decisions upon a portfolio of applications for permits and designations with varying complexities and multiple stakeholders. Support the management of registrations and appointment of accredited consignors, and other permission priority applications as necessary. Lead, coach and mentor the Permitting team/s, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, integrity and tenacity. Work closely with other divisions to ensure businesses and activities are appropriately permissioned or approved, minimising risks to communities and the environment. Drive continuous improvement in Permissioning processes and contribute to the development of high-performing teams. Operate independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating in a dynamic, hybrid team environment. Skills and experience: Tertiary degree and/or postgraduate qualifications in chemistry, environmental science or chemical engineering (desirable). Senior-level experience in project management and decision-making skills, preferably within Permissioning/Government. Experience in contaminated land management and remediation practices (desirable). In-depth knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017, the Environment Protection Regulations 2021, the EPA permissions scheme and approval processes. Proven ability to make informed, evidenced-based, risk-proportionate decisions and recommendations. Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor, provide technical expertise, and deliver on organisational priorities. Click the "Apply" button to submit your application.
