About Us
SoilsWest is a recognised SW WA Hub partner and will be sub-contracted to deliver the project objectives through the creation of a synergistic partnership with all partners. SoilsWest and the SW WA Drought Hub will work together to create a strong and effective partnership to fully support this role to deliver objectives.
The Role
The Regional Soil Coordinator will work as part of the SoilsWest team within the Food Futures Institute to develop and implement a strategic extension strategy to increase stakeholder engagement and impact in WA. Working across organisations, the successful candidate will, in partnership with the SW WA Drought and Innovation Hub, meet the needs of growers and industry through delivery of integrated soil knowledge and support; and increase the capacity of farmers and land managers in adopting sustainable best practices for agriculture.
Key responsibilities include:
Broker partnerships with industry and stakeholders to build capability. Share innovative soil science and tools to improve sustainable soil management practices. Provide networks for researchers, primary producers, First Nations peoples, and community groups to work together. Liaise with the Sustainable Agriculture Facilitators to ensure farmers and landholders are getting the coordinated support they need. What you'll bring to this role:
Completion of a relevant degree, with minimum of 5 years subsequent relevant experience in agriculture, soil and/or project development; OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience (Science Communications) and/or education/training. Highly effective communication recognising a range of different learning styles and levels. Previous experience in preparation of communication and extension plans, developing resources and learning activities, and the ability to effectively interact, lead discussions and support researchers to deliver outcomes. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to create, maintain and enhance relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in developing, coordinating and managing successful events with people of all ages, from a wide range of backgrounds through various mediums. High organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads. Current "C" Class Driver's License.
