Corporate Affairs/Communications Sydney Contract Government Administration 5/11/2024 Media Support Officer | 6 Month Contract | $350 - $370 per day + super 6 Month Contract Sydney CBD / WFH $350 - $370 per day + super About the Role    The primary purpose of this role is to support and assist in providing strategic advice to business partners to share important information to a NSW government department, and to positively contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the department's reputation.
The role supports the development and implementation of proactive and reactive media, social media and public relations strategies, and will help manage issues and crisis collaboratively with a strategic focus that is aligned to the department's vision and values .
Reporting into the Manager, Business Coordination.
With another business support officer in the team.
Key accountabilities include: Manage media monitoring and reporting and develop media lists to support the implementation of media and public affairs strategies.
Assist with the execution of media and public affairs strategies, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to media and stakeholder enquiries in line with agreed communication protocols.
Provide professional assistance with public affairs, processing media enquiries, liaising extensively with portfolio agencies, preparing and issuing media statements.
Contribute to the event management preparation for public appearances and writing of material for public speaking by Directors and Senior Executives, to ensure event objectives are achieved.
Provide support in evaluating media coverage, identifying opportunities and risks, providing advice, briefing notes and other material for senior staff and the Minister.
Liaise as directed, with the Minister's office on media issues to ensure alignment in the approach taken and responses across the transport portfolio agencies.
Collect and communicate information in regards to current affairs and recent developments that impact on the transport portfolio.
Assist with developing effective public affairs and media policy and procedures.
About You Experience in journalism, media relations or public relations in a contentious and complex environment in either the public or private sector.
Demonstrated experience in providing administrative support with minimal supervision (systems, procedures, instructions, policies and records management).
Demonstrated strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and complete work within allocated timeframes.
2 years minimum experience in a business administration role.
Desired skills include: Experience in managing a mailbox Experience in Microsoft applications, specially excel, word and sharepoint Exposure working in a government department Please note, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
