Are you a skilled Carpenter with a strong background in mechanical work?
Join our Fitter Project Team in Cairns for an exciting fixed-term opportunity that extends until January 30, 2026!
About this role: In this role, you will leverage your carpentry skills and mechanical expertise to support our project team in undertaking modifications to our Kuranda Scenic Rail fleet.
Your contributions will ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of our equipment and facilities.
Key Responsibilities: Project Delivery: Undertake and execute projects and modifications to rollingstock in line with relevant drawings, specifications, procedures, and instructions.
Testing and Rectification: Commission, test, fault-find, and rectify modification installations, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately.
Overhaul Contributions: Support the Kuranda Scenic Railway carriage overhaul and refurbishment programs as needed, following all relevant procedures and instructions.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Kuranda Scenic Railway rollingstock to enhance reliability and availability, adhering to established procedures and instructions.
Improvement Initiatives: Provide input to enhance project cost, quality, and scheduling through improvement initiatives.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members to effectively schedule and complete work requirements.
Depot Duties: Carry out necessary non-skilled depot duties, including housekeeping, to maintain a clean and safe workplace.

Relevant mechanical qualifications or certifications.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to interpret technical documents and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
