What does the role involve We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Partnerships and Sponsorships to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager for Membership & Engagement, the role involves identifying and engaging potential partners/sponsors/advertisers, negotiating, and managing agreements, and ensuring the successful execution and implementation of partnership/sponsorship initiatives. Based in Fitzroy, Melbourne, with some hybrid work, the role will require a leader who can work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive growth, secure financial support, and enhance the value proposition for association members and the programs of events. What we need in the role A strategic thinker skilled in conceptualisation/exploration of new business opportunities, strategy development, budget planning, and business relations. A leader who will enhance and develop staff business development capabilities and work with them to achieve their winning targets. The team You will be part of the Business Development Team consisting of Business Development & CPD Administrator and General Manager for Membership & Engagement. Your role will also see you (and require you) to consistently interact with our internal stakeholders as well as several other stakeholders across the business and our distribution partners—providing opportunities for effective development and execution of innovative approaches for successful event and product launches. What responsibilities form part of this role? Identifying and establishing strategic partnerships with relevant organisations or individuals to enhance the company's brand, reach and member offerings. Identify and develop potential sponsors by conducting market research, competitor analysis, and industry trends to expand the association's sponsorship network and maximise sponsorship revenue. Meeting or exceeding revenue targets through effective negotiation and management of partnership agreements and sponsorship contracts. Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing partners and sponsors, ensuring their satisfaction and support. Conducting thorough analysis and evaluation of partnership and sponsorship activities to measure their impact and ROI. Work closely with internal teams and provide leadership, and support to the direct team to ensure seamless execution of partnership and sponsorship initiatives. Specific skills/qualifications needed Qualifications required: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field (master's degree preferred but not essential). Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential for establishing and maintaining partnerships. Strong understanding of membership associations and the ability to navigate their unique dynamics. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for creating compelling proposals, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Proficiency in CRM software and other relevant business development tools. Experience required will include: Proven record of accomplishments of successfully securing partnerships and sponsorships, preferably in a similar industry. Significant experience in partnership development, sponsorship management, business development, sales, and/or a related role. The ability to network effectively and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with potential sponsors and partners is essential. The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and seize new opportunities is valuable.
