About the position:
An integral role in the business, the Logistics Specialist is responsible for the planning and coordinating of all the logistics activities from suppliers through to arrival at our warehousing facilities. You will also be responsible for ensuring the business is kept informed of all movements and our forwarders move products on time and in line with the business's cost and time requirements.
The broad scope and responsibilities of the position are:
Planning and executing international and local logistics functions within the supply chain.
Supervising the outsourced logistics function to ensure all activities are completed accurately and on time.
Coordinating with suppliers, shipping agents, and forwarders to ensure available products are shipped expeditiously, in line with their priority, and ensuring freight utilization is optimized.
Completing the logistics tasks within our purchase order critical path.
Managing purchase orders from supplier handover through to our 3PL or the company's own warehouses.
Updating key systems to ensure correct status of all open purchase orders.
Arranging optimal freight from suppliers as well as intra 3PL movements to the business's owned warehouses.
Providing status updates of import and export logistics product movements and communicating clearly with responsible departments.
Completing logistics and freight-related administration tasks including reporting.
Candidate:
Essentially, you will have tertiary qualifications with a Logistics or Supply Chain background. You will also have strong Information Technology (SAP, Excel, Product Life Cycle Management) skills. You will also have excellent cross-functional communication skills.
Experience working within the apparel or fashion industry is NOT required; however, experience working within a consumer product-based business or an FMCG-based business is essential. You would also have experience with businesses that have overseas suppliers, multiple warehouse locations, and 3PL providers.
