ABOUT THE ROLE: We are seeking skilled and reliable Seasonal Maintenance Staff to join the Outback Spirit team at our remote camps and lodges across Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Far North Queensland.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in some of Australia's most stunning and remote locations, providing a unique experience while ensuring that our properties are maintained to the highest standards.
In this essential role, you will be responsible for the upkeep of buildings, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring a safe and functional environment for our guests, visitors, and staff.
You will perform general repairs, ongoing maintenance, and preventative upkeep, all while ensuring minimal disruption to the guest experience.
For certain locations, the role may require mechanical expertise, making it a hybrid maintenance/mechanic position.
Key Responsibilities: Maintain and repair buildings, equipment, and fixtures to ensure a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for guests, visitors, and staff.
Prioritize and complete repairs and maintenance tasks in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
Assist with the repair, servicing, and ongoing maintenance of the fleet, ensuring all vehicles and equipment remain operational.
Drive to pick up supplies as needed to support lodge operations.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with internal procedures, safety regulations, and business objectives.
Adhere to relevant building codes, safety standards, and company policies, including Journey Beyond guidelines.
Liaise with suppliers to source services and materials required for maintenance tasks.
Accurately maintain work schedules, data, and purchase orders in relevant systems, ensuring timely updates.
The majority of our Lodges open in March or April, with some properties opening in February.
ABOUT YOU: You will be a proactive, detail-oriented candidate with a strong technical background and a solid understanding of maintenance and mechanical systems.
The ability to troubleshoot problems quickly, coupled with a commitment to delivering high-quality results, is essential.
You will also need excellent communication skills to work closely with staff and suppliers, as well as a customer-focused approach to ensure smooth operations.
Key Skills and Qualifications: Trade qualifications in one of the following: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, or building (essential).
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, along with experience using hand and electrical tools.
Ability to read technical manuals and drawings is essential.
Experience in repairing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
A valid driver's license (essential).
HR driver's license (essential).
Forklift operator's license (essential).
Previous experience working in remote locations is highly advantageous.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a keen attention to detail.
High level of computer proficiency, with experience using reporting tools.
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and compliance requirements.
Liaise with Head Office to source services and materials required for maintenance tasks.
Accurately maintain work schedules, data, and ensuring timely updates.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a live-in position at one of our remote lodge locations.
All meals and accommodation are provided during your time on site.
