ACT Policing, through the Domestic and External Territories (DET) Team, is responsible for the delivery of community Policing services to Jervis Bay, Norfolk Island, and the Indian Ocean Territories (IOT's) consisting of Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory frameworks, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.Role and ResponsibilitiesProvide administrative and operational support as directed by the officer in charge (OIC) of Jervis Bay to assist in the delivery of Community Policing Services.Take an annual oath or affirmation to be appointed as a Special Member under sections 36 and 40E of the Australian Federal Police Act 1979 (Cth) and enforce powers and perform duties that are expressly conferred in the Special Member application and endorsed by the Delegate.Establish and maintain internal and external networks and working relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders, government agencies and community members.Manage official records in accordance with AFP governance and the Archives Act 1983 (Cth).Undertake duty as a Police coxswain and ensure accurate reporting of maritime related functions and activities.Assist with administration, maintenance, and survey of AFP marine assets.Manage vessel crew and operator requirements; coach, guide and mentor team members in coxswain duties as required.Monitor and assess capability development across AFP maritime functions.Assist with proactive targeting of traffic offences to prevent road trauma as directed by the OIC.Undertake minor project and research work as required and directed by the OIC.Participate in emergency incidents, search and rescue operations and training exercises.Assist with Police functions, operations and investigations as required and directed by the OIC.Minimum RequirementsNegative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance or the ability to obtain.Use of Force (UoF) qualification excluding firearms or the ability to obtain.Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal qualification or the ability to obtain prior to engagement.Demonstrated ability to work various shifts as required, including on-call.You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.Candidates will be required to complete both a Psychological and/or Medical assessment to be able to progress through this process.Physically fit.Good hand-eye coordination.A good sense of balance.Able to cope with the physical demands of the job.Selection CriteriaOrganising your work, making sound decisions and achieving outcomes.Communicating and working effectively with other people.Applying technical knowledge, expertise and skills.ApplicationPlease submit the following documents via our Jobs portal prior to the closing date and time:Resume/CV - This will form the basis for determining your suitability against the position requirements and give the panel a clear outline of your current knowledge and qualifications along with previous experiences.
