About the opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Outdoor and Environmental Education in the School of Education as part of the College of Arts, Law and Education.
Tasmania's particular history has left a legacy of intergenerational disadvantage that has negatively impacted education achievement in many communities.
In this role, you will work with others to implement a key strategy initiative in the state and CALE for a new degree, Bachelor of Outdoor and Environmental Education, as well as working in our ITE and non-ITE programs.
Working in collaboration with partners and stakeholders, the successful applicant will take the lead in developing an innovative vision of Outdoor and Environmental Education units.
You will also engage directly with the Tasmanian Department for Education, Children and Young People, Catholic Education Tasmania, Independent Schools Tasmania, as well as early years providers and community organizations to build capacity across the education system in Tasmania.
The very direct engagement with these bodies that is possible in Tasmania is a strategic advantage which we anticipate will facilitate system-wide change.

To be successful, you will be a dynamic and established academic with knowledge and experience in the area of outdoor education, environmental education, and curriculum research and its application in educational contexts.
The person we seek has developing leadership skills, a track record of external grant success, and successful supervision of research students.
What you'll do: Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.Undertake high-quality research of national, and increasingly of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding.Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant postgraduate) coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching.What we're looking for: A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant), and wider community.Experience and demonstrated achievement in university-level teaching and learning.A strong record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and made notable contributions to the field of Outdoor and Environmental Education.Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (or to be obtained).Considering a move to Tasmania to take up this opportunity? Salary details Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or C and can have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $152,157 plus 17% superannuation.
