The Insurance WA team is a defendant insurancelegal team, working across both General Insurance and StatutoryInsurance matters, including CTP, workers' compensation,recoveries, liability, professional indemnity and generalinsurance. This is a fantastic hands-on Insurance role, withsignificant learning, development and progression opportunities,and the opportunity to work with interesting clients, includingsome of Australia's top insurers.KeyresponsibilitiesYou will beinvolved in a variety of matters including:providing advice –including on liability and quantum - to the InsuranceCommission of Western Australia (the sole compulsory thirdparty insurer for motor vehicle accidents in WA);litigation in theDistrict Court of WA, including attending chamber summonshearings, directions hearings, compromise hearings and specialappointments; andadvisingon the interpretation and application of statutory provisionsrelevant to CTP and motor vehicle accidents, including the Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance) Act 1943.Skills andexperience:We are keento hear from candidates with the following skills andexperience:between2 – 4 years of post-admission experience indefendant insurance law, ideally within CTP / motor vehicleaccidents;experience in theday-to-day management of files, and in running matters throughcourt proceedings;aproactive attitude and the ability to work well as part of ateam;clear,concise legal writing skills; andAboutusHall &Wilcox is a leading independent Australian law firm.
