About the roles:CleanerThis position will work as part of a cohesive team by undertaking general cleaning for the provision of high quality services.
You will work in a safe and inclusive manner that reflects our Southern Cross Care Better for life model to provide person centred care and support.
Daily duties in this role include but are not limited to:
Dusting and polishing of furnitureMopping, sweeping and vacuuming of floorsCleaning bathrooms and toiletsRemoval of rubbishListening with empathy to residents and their representatives about cleaning requests and reporting to the Supervisor any requests that cannot be immediately actionedSupporting and mentoring new housekeeping staff as well as assisting other cleaning staff as requiredLaundry AttendantThe Laundry Attendant will provide safe and effective cleaning services that support the daily living needs, goals and preferences for residents in accordance with their care and service plan.
Key Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
Performing routine laundry tasks including washing, drying, sorting, ironing and foldingReading washing and drying instructions on garments prior to commencing laundryCarrying out any required repairs to residents' clothingReporting promptly any maintenance requirements for furnishings and fittingsSupporting and mentoring new housekeeping staffReporting to Nursing staff any observed behavioural change in any residentWorking positively and collaboratively with other staff to provide person-centred safe and effective cleaning services and supportsAbout YouThe successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Previous cleaning experience in a commercial cleaning rolePrevious laundry experience in a commercial roleAdequate communication skills and a good level of English literacy including the ability to speak in a manner that older people can understandAbility to read written instructions including but not limited to the safe use of cleaning chemicalsGood organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision, whilst taking ownership of own workload to meet deadlinesA basic understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia including those who display challenging behavioursAbout UsSouthern Cross Care is one of Australia's leading charitable aged care, health and retirement living service providers.
