The roleAs our IT Support Specialist, you will be the main point of contact for delivering prompt and efficient technical support to end-users. Your responsibilities will include installing, updating, and troubleshooting hardware and software applications, identifying network issues, analysing business requirements, and assisting with the administration of key software applications such as Total Synergy (practice management software), Microsoft Active Directory and the Autodesk suite.
In addition, you will manage our third-party MSP provider, contribute to the improvement of our Quality Management Systems, oversee our Confluence intranet site, research new IT opportunities, and provide basic IT training to internal staff.
Role specificsEnsure the smooth operation of IT systems across the business, including setting up and maintaining PCs, tablets, laptops, and other office hardware for optimal performance.Administer a variety of software applications, from Microsoft 365 to specialized business software, ensuring consistent functionality and support.Provide technical assistance to users by troubleshooting hardware malfunctions, software errors, and offering guidance on resolving minor IT issues.Serve as the primary liaison with external service providers to ensure timely, high-quality support, managing issue escalation when necessary.Maintain documentation of common IT issues, resolutions, and troubleshooting procedures for internal reference.Continuously monitor system performance and suggest improvements to enhance the end-user experience.Oversee and manage IT asset registers to ensure efficient tracking and management of hardware and software.Lead IT contract management and negotiation, anticipating hardware needs, selecting preferred suppliers, and ensuring competitive pricing for equipment.Analyse the need for system upgrades, core hardware improvements, and assess network security, including virtualisation environments and auditing systems.Source relevant IT equipment and software for company projects to ensure up-to-date and effective solutions.Ensure backup and disaster recovery procedures are in place and followed as part of a robust data protection strategy.Develop and maintain IT documentation, processes, and guidelines to assist users, alongside providing IT training for staff, including onboarding and offboarding for new employees.Collaborate with Finance and other departments to assist in the provision of data for reporting and analytical purposes.Provide specialist IT knowledge and support to assist staff and managers with various business projects.About YouAs an IT Support Specialist, you bring solid current and relevant experience, strong project management skills, and thorough technical expertise.
