Details of the offer

ASC is Australia's submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy's Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats' service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation's nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia's history.
Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia's national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.
About the Opportunity
The Inventory Planning Lead plays a pivotal role in the Multi-Class Sustainment (MCS) program, supporting both Collins Class and future submarines. This position manages all aspects of inventory planning and optimisation for current CCSM maintenance availabilities and in-service activities, including URDEF (Urgent Defect Report) responses. Covering a rolling period of 0-270 days, the role focuses on facilitating material solutions, providing detailed analysis of stock on hand and vendor-managed inventories, resolving supply discrepancies, and ensuring the prioritised supply of materials.
This role involves developing a long-term inventory strategy to deliver optimal material supply levels, supporting ASC's objectives and the operational capability of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
This role is a full time Permanent opportunity.
Responsibilities
Inventory Management and Optimisation:
Oversee inventory estimation, demand and supply forecasting, and optimisation activities, ensuring coordination with stakeholders, including maintenance, production, procurement, and finance.
Develop and implement inventory plans to support submarine sustainment operations, including the transition to an ERP-based solution.
Ensure inventory levels are managed effectively across multiple locations to maximise service delivery, minimise costs, and support both planned and unplanned maintenance needs.
Manage risks such as obsolescence and implement strategies to improve inventory turnover and reduce excess stock.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Provide data analysis to support supplier contract management, risk management, and inventory optimisation.
Manage key data inputs, including historical usage data, supplier contract details, repair rates, and obsolescence risks.
Develop reports and performance scorecards to track inventory trends and support decision-making.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, logistics, operations) and external partners (e.g., Defence Supply Chain personnel, suppliers) to coordinate inventory activities and material requirements.
Mentor and guide Inventory Specialists, promoting a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
Governance and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with ASC's Inventory Governance Framework and the ASC Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Maintain data integrity across inventory systems (e.g., MILIS and ASC Supply Systems) and manage discrepancies effectively.
Continuous Improvement:
Develop and execute initiatives aimed at reducing costs, improving inventory turns, and increasing overall supply chain agility.
Support the management of internal stock refurbishment, including developing monitoring and reporting tools for budget adherence, supply forecast adherence, and on-time performance.
Key Success Indicators:
Materials are available to support MCS operations, maintenance activities, and URDEF responses in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Inventory levels are optimised to meet service requirements, supporting ASC's operational goals and minimising waste.
Stakeholder relationships are strengthened, enhancing trust and reducing uncertainty in decision-making.
Continuous improvement efforts lead to increased efficiency, reduced costs, and improved inventory performance.
