Position Purpose:This position has been developed to help maintain the City of Launceston's parks, gardens and green open spaces across the municipality. To work in a hands-on capacity and ensure all work is carried out to the required maintenance standards.
Accountabilities Activities/Tasks include:

Behave in a way that supports the City of Launceston's values.
Use technology and information to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Work collaboratively within your team and across networks.
Encourage and be proactive in developing a culture of innovation.
Provide good service to internal and external clients.
Complete service request paperwork in a detailed and timely manner.
Participate in the investigation and analysis of incidents.
Maintain allocated Council vehicles or items of plant in a safe, satisfactory and clean state of repair.
Operate and maintain small plant and equipment correctly.
Identification and removal of weeds manually or with herbicide.
Mowing parks, nature strips, open spaces, and maintaining garden beds.
Operate and maintain different types of irrigation systems.
Work safely with a duty of care for fellow employees.

Selection Criteria:

Safety Focussed: takes responsibility for own and team's health, well-being and self-care.
Ability to use horticultural machinery.
Knowledge on installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
2-5 years' experience in the horticultural industry.
Certificate 3 qualification in Horticulture or the ability to obtain.
Current ChemCert accreditation or the ability to obtain.
Drivers licence.
Traffic management qualification desirable.

General Conditions of Employment:Permanent full-time position with a 9-day fortnight. Remuneration commensurate with qualifications and industry experience.
