Contract Position - (13th May 2024 -30th June 2026)Bowls Australia (BA) aims to be the leading nation at the World Bowls Championships and Commonwealth Games. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the BA High Performance (HP) Team who are passionate about building on the success of the 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2023 World Championships to continue to raise the bar.BA is committed to providing an inclusive, safe and enjoyable environment where athletes who identify as having a disability, can participate at the highest level of our sport. To support this, the BA High-Performance Program will appoint suitably qualified High Performance Personal Carers on a contract basis.The High-Performance Personal Carer will primarily support our athletes with disability at identified High Performance activities and events. The role includes being responsible for providing personal care services to athletes with a disability on Bowls Australia High Performance Camps and Events and development and ongoing review of individual care plans as well as identifying risks to health and safety. The postholder will perform other supportive duties for the team while away and shares the High-Performance philosophy of person first, player second and commitment to excellence.This commitment will vary depending on the High-Performance schedule and calendar of events but would be typically between 20 and 50 days in a year.The key responsibilities for the High-Performance Personal Carer are:The provision of personal care services to athletes with disability on Bowls Australia High Performance Program activities.Assistance in the development, revision or adaption of individual care plans for Bowls Australia High Performance Program activities.Identifying and raising risks to health and safety of athletes within their care with the Team Manager.Providing support to athletes with disability during anti-doping testing as required.Provide general support, as required and relevant, to the Bowls Australia High-Performance staff, athletes, and support personnel.To be successful in this role you need to meet the following criteria:Proven ability in the provision of personal care duties for persons with disabilityRelevant Industry Qualifications (variety accepted, such as Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Professional Carer Certifications etc.)Ability to build positive relationshipsEffective communication skillsUnderstanding of safe-guarding persons with disability, including individual care plans and risk assessmentAbility to efficiently problem solveCurrent Working with Vulnerable People Check or state-based equivalentHolds relevant insurances (professional indemnity insurance or equivalent)Registration or membership with their relevant National body for their professionAvailability to travel domestically and internationally to activities and events as required.Experience in high-performance sport/athletes desired but not requiredAs the key functions of the role will be performed at events and activities, applications will be considered from any part of Australia.At Bowls Australia, we value diversity and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
